STEP 1
All New candidates for consideration will be submitted through an open, online candidature process exclusively within The Florida Skateboarding Hall of Fame (FLSHOF) membership, advisors, and industry professionals. This process will commence semi-annually (or annually) in the fall of the preceding year of any inductions. (Note: Candidates submitted in prior years, who were Nominated in their specific category and whose names appeared on the official ballot, but not Inducted, will remain on the nomination list “In Perpetuity”, and are available for consideration in the induction year and thereafter.) New Candidate applications must be completed and submitted by the deadline published on this official FLSHOF website. Applications submitted after the date will not be accepted. All New Candidate applications will be reviewed by the FLSHOF President, Executive Committee and the Nominating Committee Co-Chairs. All New Candidates will be placed in appropriate category if not defined or miss-defined on the application.
CRITERIA
STEP 2: NOMINATIONS
EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE MEMBERS
The executive committee shall consist of the founding members of FLSHOF as permanent committee members along with the addition of 2-4 members from the current pool of inductees. Executive Committee term shall be two (2) years or induction cycles. This does not preclude an executive committee member from serving consecutive terms should the membership deem it or for an executive member to vacate his/her post prematurely for any reason.
NOMINATING COMMITTEE CO-CHAIRS
Shall consist of two persons renewed each cycle by vote of the Executive Committee. Terms are 1 year or one induction cycle, however, this does not preclude a Committee Co-Chair from serving multiple consecutive annual terms
NOMINATION COMMITTEE MEMBERS
A Nominating Committee members (NCM) will be formed that will be made up of eight to ten (8-10) experts – made up of current FLSHOF members, advisors, and industry professionals. The NCM Committee Members will be selected by the current active Executive Committee. The Nomination Committee Members will review and vet all the completed New Candidate applications and select the new nomination candidates filling
all the slots allocated in each Award Category – Male Skateboarder(s), Female Skateboarder(s), Industry, Media, Lifer, Ellis Award, and Friend(s) of Florida. Their
selections are subject to FLSHOF Board of Directors/Exec Committee approval and/or
additions. Note: verbal submissions will not be accepted. All submissions must adhere
to the stated submission and nomination process. NCM must make submissions on the Official FLSHOF Nominations Form available within a special section of the website for members of the voting group and voting members must select at least one (1) candidate from each category. The number of new Candidates with the most Nominations (must have more than two (2) nomination votes) in the various categories. Additionally, any candidate nominated each year will remain on the nomination list “In Perpetuity” in addition to any new candidates. The resulting list of Candidates, will officially be “The Nominations.”
STEP 3: SELECTIONS
A Selection/Voting Committee will be made up of all current FLSHOF members
confirming their desire to participate in the years voting process and additionally four (4)
At-Large (industry professionals). It is recommended that the Selection/Voting
Committee Members be current members of the FLSHOF in good standing. The At-
Large Members are not required to be Floridians or East Coasters in origin nor
members of the FLSHOF. At-Large Members must have an exceptional knowledge of
Florida/East Coast Skateboarding history. Each Selection Committee Member will receive an Official Ballot link and Biography file of Nominees and shall have a minimum of 1 vote per each category. The Selection Committee will submit their votes on the Official Ballot via the FLSHOF electronic voting system. The Executive Committee along with the co-chairs of the nominating committee will be responsible for independently tallying the votes. The Nominees with the greatest number of votes filling the required number in each category are the finalists and shall make up the year’s induction group. The Nominee(s) with the next highest number of votes in each category are “The Alternates.” NOTE: No verbal selections or selections made on social media, via email, text etc. will be accepted.
STEP 4: COMMITTEE RATIFICATION
The Induction group will be submitted to the FLSHOF Nominating committee for Ratification. It is the committee’s responsibility to approve or deny each Finalist. A finalist may be denied based on outside factors or actions that are deemed detrimental to the FLSHOF. These actions include but are not limited to, any negative actions reflecting poorly on the sport of skateboarding or the FLSHOF, Racist comments or actions, Sexist or Gender discrimination, Xenophobic statement/actions, or violence in any form. A Finalist not ratified by the Committee will be replaced by the highest-ranking Alternate in the same category. The decisions of the Committee are final. Finalists ratified by the Committee are The Inductees.
